If it is nitrates, only a water change and perhaps skimming will help, but 22ppm nitrates is actually fine for fish and most non-SPS corals. As long as there isn't any ammonia or nitrite.

Ok, then the cycle is not done yet, nitrite needs to be zero first, nitrate is not so important in cycling period.

Your typical cycle will take you 6-8 weeks, should you start from scratch.
this does not mean that after 6 weeks you can go wild. take slow when stocking the tank.

Very important questions, it is important that you do it right from the start to save you major headaches at a later stage.

My Diatom bloom started when I seeded my aragonite with sand from a mature tank.

It is apart of the cycling process. It does a see saw process until your beneficial bacteria population is large enough to keep things in check. Just be patient.

Nothing against you. Just take a look under the beginner section and see how many guys had to go through the same process with the same issues. Some of them chose to ignore good advice and rushed things and lost everything in a few months and then pulled out the hobby completely. The other guys took their time and are still running. With this hobby patience is everything to a successful tank and believe me it is worth the wait. I waited 6 months before I even added my first clean up crew. My tank was overflowing with copepods and other little critters by that time. It is difficult to resist the urge to add livestock in your tank, you can maybe look at adding a Hermit crab+snails in a week or two. At the end it's your system and your money and if you feel comfortable at adding something then go with it. No one tank is the same.

Dude, i fully understand. Just fooiling around. Only gonna add cuc in april. Let the tank cycle for 4 more weeks then add something small like cardinal. The wait is a pain in the bum. Still fun looking at an empty tank lol

No probs :thumbup1:. I had my wife keep me on a leash to help me not purchasing anything before my time line (and boy did she keep it tight). You will start seeing little critters moving around in your tank, then the excitement starts.
