JD167's Tank

Wee-Man, I only lost one cleaner shrimp in the process. But this was due to my inexperience in migrating tanks. The problem was that I had to put the new tank on the spot where the old one was. If that wasn't the case I think everything would have gone more smoothly. All in all i think it went well. It was just one heck of a long day!! :p

Having moved a few tanks with some reefer buddies, i know exactly what you mean, a "days work" takes on a whole new meaning:lol:

WOW JD - AWESOME Macro Pic! What camera are you using and at what settings? If you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. Jacques, I used my Sony Cybershot DSC-H1 5.1MP. Not the best camera but it works. I think I was lucky to get such a good shot.

Update1

Just some pics on how the tank looks today.

WOW JD - your tank is looking awesome!

Can you please refresh my memory:
- what lighting do you have running (type, wattage and type of globes/Kelvin)
- how much water flow do you have in your tank from how many (and what type) of power-heads?

dude you really have a awesome tank, congrats:thumbup:

any chance that you can add the skimmer in the 1st chamber?

Thanks Jacques. I have 2x250W Metal Halides. I think they are 10,000K. Then also have 5 x T5's(2 White and 3 Blue). I replaced them this weekend with new ATI's so I hope it will make a difference.

I have 4 x Seio power-heads(opposite corners. M620, M820, and 2xM1100's) ). I also installed a wave-maker this past weekend. With a 450L tank my total water flow works out to about 56x.

Wow JD ,your tank is looking very good .
How old is your setup now?

FANTASTIC! Brilliant healthy looking corals you got there mate

Thanks Matt. I'm a little worried about the brain coral at the bottom next to the clam. It's not looking too healthy at the moment and I'm not sure why. It was fine last week. Will have to keep an eye on it.

I also think that will be much better, cause now all your pods growing in the DSB get chowed by your skimmer and not by your fish and corals :p

Other than that, very nice looking tank, good job

Hi dj167

Shouldn't you try to get the water flow a little closer to the dsb's surface.

Maybe you could add some more substrate to bring up the dsb's level and add some chito.

Still looks great:thumbup:

Hey Iv. Yea thats the plan. Gonna add it gradually to build up the DSB.
