Not sure if this has been covered in a summarised form, so out of pure curiosity, I would love to know flow specifications in other members' systems......

Tank Dimensions / volume and a list of all the pumps you have running....

eg:

Tank volume 500L (1m x 1m x +/-50cm)
Return:

1 x 2000lph

In Tank
1 x tunze 6101, 12000lph constant (disconnected controller)
1 x Aqua Medic Ocean Prop 15 000lph, on controller, so around 10 000lph actual
1 x tunze nanostream 6045, 4 500lph constant
1 x Sun Sun JVP 102, realistic i reckon 3000lph
1 x Seio mp 2600, 10 000lph constant
2 x Seio mp 1500, 6 000lph each = 12000lphconstant
1 x resun waver, still going after all these years, realistically, 6000lph on controller


I've shown you mine now show me yours.....

There was a big thing a few years ago about measuring the flow of prop pumps. Two major brands were at loggerheads over this. This brings about the claims of other brands and how they measure and quote their flow. So, "flow", needs to be defined. It is easy to establish the flow from a closed loop pump. But I am interested to hear how "Scientifically" all the other prop pumps are tested and rated.

tank 1 is 350L, 1.5m by 45cm by 45cm, 2 MP40 Vortech, both set at about 40%

Tank 2 is standard Daro 4foot, so 240L, 1.2m by 45cm by 45cm, got 3 Seio Prop 1500

Return is a common sump, with Water Blaster HW5000 that split into 4 lines back. Each display, plus remote DSB and also cryptic tank.

OK, I have two tanks.
One in the garage and one in the lounge still under construction.

The tank in the garage:
900x900x500
Return pump - Water Blaster 3000lph
In tank pumps - 2x Vortech MP40W running in nutrient export mode.

Tank in the lounge
1200x1000x700
Return pump - Water Blaster 5000lph
In tank pumps - 4x Vortech MP40W running in nutrient export mode.

I'm confused, surely flow rated in litres per an hour can only be interpreted in 1 way... That is: The volume of water, in litres, the pump will push in the space of one hour??? I do believe that companies flat out lie though... Help me understand:blush:


Anyway, i'm running a Sicce return @ 2000lph, 2 X 5000lph sun suns (these are on timers, for a bit of random flow during the day), 2 seio prop 3800lph, @ 1 tunze 2000lph... These all in my 4ft (560L).

I'm looking at upgrading within the next year to four tunze Turbelle stream 6105, or similar...

Thanks NJ, Well aware of the whole debacle, been around for a little while:y13: The confusion comes in with the methods used to measure the flow, theoretical actual, bag method blah blah blah.....

I am also quite familiar with most pumps in the field, just wanting to know the flow dynamics in systems here............
for once was not trying to open a debate........

Have been contemplating removing the unslightly Seios and putting in an MP40, but eish the budget....... Or if I win the lotto, one of them big @ss tunzes on steroids.....

Return 3000lt (no name brand pump:whistling:)
in tank 2 X 6105 tunze on 7095 controller need to add two more my be 2 X 6095 or 6055 as controller can take 4 pumps or 8 if use y adapters.
