Boyu Nano Understanding And Maintanance

guys thanks for the help, the tank is up and running (only water at the moment), will be buying some live rock today and adding as the budget allows for it, planing to let the tank run for three to four months befor adding any fish. Just need to no the skimmer must the lid sit above the surface or below the surface. I have to powerheads in the tank so the flow is pretty good, mat165 could you please post a pic of how you upgraded your lighting if you dont mind...

Hey guys, has anyone done the calculation as to how much this tank costs to run, electricy wise in a month. This would consider everything on 24x7 besides the 2x 24watt lights that run for 12 hours ???

I would do it but dont know the wattages of all the componts. I think we currently pay 0.44 per kw/hour???

Hope someones worked this out already !!!

Hi

If i'm not mistaken the TL 550 box says all componants use about 100W (0.1Kw)

if the heater is aout 75 watt and the lights 24 watt i would not assume the pump, skimmer and UV would definatly not use maore than a watt or 2. so 100 Watt sound correct.

so if everything is on 100% then you can work it out at 44c X .01kwh = 4.4c per hour

depending on ther duty cycle of each omponent you can work out a more realistic value

a x 0.075 x 44c (75 w heater) plus
b x 0.024 x 44c (24 w Lights) plus
1 x 0.001 x 44c ( uv , skimmer on 100%)

where a is the fraction of the day the heater is on and b is the fraction of the day you have the lights on.

you would have to multiply your answer by 24 to get your cost per day.

hope this helps

Roy
