Hi All,

seen this skimmer on a DIY site, the way I understand, you use an airpump into the airstone and then the standard skimmer design. Is this very effective? I have a real small sump space and this would suit me perfectly. Anybody got experience with these?

Thanks,
Snoek

Hi Snoek - This is the old airt-stone driven skimmer design. It does work, BUT not effeciently enough to skim out enough DOC's from the water, to let you keep SPS corals. This will work fine if you only want to keep more tolerant soft-corals, and perhaps SOME LPS.....

I started off with this type of skimmer - called the Berlin Air-lift skimmer (mine was from Red Sea).....

Compared to either venturi driven or even beckitt driven skimmers, this skimmer does not work too well.

for a small skimmer.would that not be too much force coming in? would it not just flood the collector cup section/

resun make a small pump the one that runs the TS1...then there is an otp500....
