hi Moolis,

how reef safe are they, especially to smaller reef fish, and are they fine with mysis and shaved shrimp, or do they need something more.

Also would they be fine in a 3.2m x 1m with suger fine arogonite as a substrate, would they ever out grow it?

Not sure if Moolis one is the Dasyatis kuhlii or the Taeniura lymma. The Lymma is not hardy to keep but much smaller. The kuhlii is easier to keep but grows big.

Mags Sumeshan has got one in his 3200x1500x800 reef tank. It is definitely not reef safe in that it loves green chromis, firefish, anthius, shrimp etc. His one eats pellets, hole mussels, stint and most of what the rest of the fish eat.

This ray is now about 350-400mm across the disc, 700 mm nose to tail tip and is struggling for open ground space. Sumeshan has made vast areas of open substrate and caves for his. A new home for his one is on the cards as the tank is becoming too small for him.

Sorry to say this @Moolis but in my humble opinion I would say that they best left in their natural environment.

This is my honest opinion and if inappropriate I will respect if this post gets deleted.

I sincerely hope this does not offend you.
