Hi All

I got this pin cushion from my brother to keep till he sorts his tank out.

However the pin cushion has fallen over and the bottom seems to be dead. I would like to cut it just below the "dead" part and attach it to the plug again.

What would be the best way to do this?

Attached is a photo.

Here is what i did.

Take a Stanly knife and some iodine and gloves and goggles.

Sterilize the knife and cut above the dead section, make sure you get all the dead section (even if you need to cut some of the live tissue)

I mounted mine with a tooth pick not sure if super glue will work.

Dip the pin cushion in iodine for a few min.

Why do you think the botton is dieing?

How long has it been in the tank?
Dont be too hasty about cutting it, leather can be odd things and sulk for a few days.
I also dont think that the bottom part is dead. Looks more like its shedding. Try gently wiping the "dead" layer off gently wit hyour finger.

I dont think its dying. I think it was suffering in my brothers tank.

It then started sulking and the bottom part died. When i lift it up i can see the dead part.

Was just wondering if i can fix it up a little and get him standing up again :)

Thanks for the info will try cut the dead part off this weekend and reattach it.

Its been in my tank about a month. I've seen alot of pin cushions do this then recover quickly.

This was was basically dead when i got it. Its recovered alot!

dude dont cut the pincushion!!!!

Ho big is the pin?
My pin is 47cm across and because of the weight it fell over in exactly the same manner but the bottom is still alive!!!
Take a closer pick of the base as well before you go cutting

that looks fine to me , can u post a pic of the "dead" section ??

I would personally leave it. The base seems OK to me
