Thinking about going ozone

I saw one of these Ozoninator (spelling) yesterday, looks interesting, but now we getting into some really tricky equipment especially when you consider how the CO2 freaks me out.

But the Yanks swear by this, so going have to go this route sooner or later

It is nice to have the general chit chat, but when you are looking for things it is better to have a summery than having to read 5 pages of general stuff.

pros, is crystal clear water,no algea,increase in oxygen,theres others but cant remember now
cons,if there is an overdose of O3 in your system,you will kill it

Come on their is more to it than that. What about the controller, how humidity effects the Ozone unit...........etc

What is the story with the setup. Ok u run it through a old skimmer, but in Hennie's tank he talk about having that skimmer far away from the normal skimmer or it wont work. What I have read is that the water coming out you ozone skimmer should be passed through some carbon.

You right Thalion - I too read this. Passing the water that comes out after running ozone through it, will reduce the toxicity of the ozone, before it goes back into the display tank again. Also - I have read that a lot of folks just connect the ozone machine to their current working skimmers?

I thought that is what you do, connect to current working skimmer, but or guru says other wise.

Also what is the best way to dry the air.

The ozone units don't work well with humid air, so the air must be dried.

I just connected it up as directed. ie.To one of my venturi's on my DNW 300. And yes i am running Carbon on the system aswell.
This is the way Marco advised me to do so.

OK - Thalion - thanks, I now understand. The best way would most likely be to run a de-humidifier.....
I saw these units at Alfie's place, and wondered what it was for....

It's amzing how strong the smell of Ozone is.When the Ozonizer is running,the lounge picks up the smell and even the skimmate has a completley different smell.

Should you be smelling it, thought it was very dangerous.
