i agree test first find out how stable your tank is, i hardly do water changes because i have HUGE filtration both Bio, Chemical and Mechanical stable tank is a happy tank
I only use
Red Sea Coral Pro Salt
Bio Cubes
Purigen
Carbon
2x Skimmer(1 of which is very overated for my system)
Filter Pads in a Canister Filter
I fact the only time i do WC is when i have to change the filter pads in the canister filter
I test every Fri(Dosing) and Sun(See if Dosing Worked)
OK great thanks guys. For the past few months I have been doing a 25L water change once a week. I have the standard filter foam with floss chemipure elite, carbon and some live rock in a media rack with the standard equipment. I don't have all the test kits. I'll take a sample to the lfs.Which tests should I ask them to do?
The basic PH...ALK..MAG..CAL..I usually just check for those at home...guess you can do phosphate and nitrate...I hardly do those, if ever, as I'm so pass the stage of panicing and worring about lowering those levels.. Remember you will need to get Additives to increase/decrease what ever readings they give you...then you need to add additives to increase/decrease... I use Salifert Test Kits and I use AquaVitro supplements..but there are many out there to fit everyone's buget and preference..
