my mom going over to the states in like three weeks time, ive already asked her to bring back 2 koralia nano powerheads for me, if u want she could probably get u a pump too, pm me if intrested

Exotic aquariums stock them. be prepared to pay an arm and a leg though.

Its probably cheaper to buy from the states and have them shipped here:

Thanks will have a look, not that expensive on the online shop in the UK, but we'll probably get raped here in SA.......

Thanks Johan, I'll let you know;)

you will definately enjoy the koralia.

They are great pumps and customer service is FANTASTIC.

I cleaned my pump the other day and lost one of the washers to the drain monster.Called hydor in the US and they are shipping me a new one free of charge (the pump is well out of warranty!)

In the us its like $30

Poirimaniax, is the backup from them good? have you had any problems?

I'm perticularly looking for the 12V controllable versions.

Havent had one issue with the pump so far, and its been running for over 2.5 years.

Their customer service (from what ive heard on the overseas forums) is really very, very good.

I dunno if mine is controllable or not? Its a Koralia 3 - Ill look into it.

I can say that they give unbelievable dispersed flow - up,down, left and right.
mine is positioned about 20cm below the surface and I cant put it higher because of the crazy turbulence it creates on the surface

the one looks newer than my one. the 5-8 one.

the other one looks like mine

The Koralia 4 LV controllable is $60 = under R500 (exc duties, shipping, etc) Even if you double the price @ R1000 its still way cheaper than any thing in the market, other brands are R2000+ with higher power usage.......

Am I missing something here?

But that's just the pump, how much is the controller?

Ok, if you compare apples with apples, Lets call it product "X", a well known brand.

Koralia 4 - 5500LPH - 14W - $60
Product "X" - 5500LPH - 18W - $227

Ok, Product "X" is a controllable type pump but this price excludes any "true" controller and only includes a pump and a variable power supply, allowing flow to be manually changed.

The Koralia is the pump only!

The controller is $239 (2 channel), however I want to run them off an electronic controller that I have, not the original, but this is the beauty of a LV pump, they say it the pump can only be used on there controller but I think it sales talk, I'll do my home work!

But for arguments sake, lets take 2x Koralia 4 and 1 controller = $359, 2 of product "X" = $454, and then there is still no controller.

Bud, electronics is electronics, if it's in their controller or in your handbag it all does the same thing, not so? You just gotta figure out the timings and what nots, should be easy to do, I mean it should be simply a matter of limiting/reducing the current to adjust the speed? Same like getting a 1,5v LED to run off a 12V car battery by just adding a resistor. Put one by variable resistor by the body, then add in a 555 or something to vary the time and you're in business. I expect them to be in full production by the end of the month please, I'll take 3.
