These little things have grown from something that looked like a coral skeleton

I had encrusting SPS grow like that. This does not look like anything bad you got as a gift.

I assume you mean that, could be star polyps, I have a monti that lay next to a rock, since I moved it I have a patch of "monti flesh" growing on the rock.


But alas, we will need a better pic to really see

Why its great. Mine grew under minimul light. Nor as fast but it grew.
