Hi Masa reefers,
I ordered a glass tank measuring 4ft x 2ft x 2ft. .100 gallons if my computation is correct. i planned to set this up as a semi-reef tank.My question is : Where to drill hole? Back panel or bottom glass? Anyone using Durso Standpipe? Pls Help me..

Thnx in advance..

Hi Phyrannus, I would suggest drilling it at the the bottom. That way it will make it easy to fit your Durso.

Tnx Mekaeel

Do you have photo of tank using a durso standpipe? Is there any other design/option not using Durso? less complicated design maybe?

Do you think i can use clear acrylic plastic to serve as overflow box for the durso pipe? it is OK to use glass sealant for acrylic plastic?
Yes you can use acrylic for an overflow box, I'm not too sure what glue you can use though, I think there is a specific type you have to use.

durso works by pressure not a siphon. so don't worry about it will be fine when you turn your return off etc. have you drilled already? i was going to make a suggestion sayin you must go for a central overflow. i wish i had the option to do it as it makes life so much easier in the long run

the tank is not yet been drilled...i wanted to make it perfect so i'm taking my time. what do you mean of a "central overflow"?

there are may options to consider here, what are your plans for your aquascaping? as the flow will need to be posisioned to get the dirt to quicky be pulled into the overflow. corner overflow, full back overflow (situated externally) or an overflow back center are all options to consider
