Anyone who had problems with these tanks wrt cracks or tank burst, please state the size of the tank, where bought and how long after the purchase did the tank crack/burst.....

I haven't had one but heard lots of stories of these tanks cracking over the past 4 or 5 years, I'm surprised this company hasn't been taken to task over this.

Im a victim and will never support them ever again. The size I had was 900X500X500. The stand wasnt the problem. The tank just cracked

I've got a 900x500x500. I thought only the bigger tanks had this issue. Now i'm poo-ing myself. Maybe its really time for an upgrade. Anyone wanna by my tank? Lol.

It is unfair to single out H2O tanks alone. There are many similar tanks that also break but they "Aqua H2O" get the blame. All tanks that have heat treated glass are suspect to fracture. No matter their origin. So if anyone has a curved glass tank, make sure water changes are very small and if you move the tank expect failure as the glass is very brittle and can't handle the drainage and refill. One might note that a breakage, in my experience, happens within 2-4 days of a water change or tank move.

It might be more realistic to highlight this fact in the pole.

I need to add that heat treated glass has not got the same give/flexibility as float glass.

i agree that the tanks containg oven treated glass seem to be more prone to this problem than others, the main problem is that they cant really be fixed because of the curved section of the tank.. will be interesting to see what is learnt from this thread..

There seems to be a problem with them after doing some reading, not to say that other brands haven't had similar problems, but there seems to be a poor customer service / backup problem too?

Ok guys here's one....
When I was about 15 I built a small tank 500 by 500 by 600
put it next to my bed, one night a friend was sleeping over and at about 1 or 2 in the morning the thing burst...... fish, rocks glass all over my friend and myself. He screamed so loud my dad ran out his room completely starkers with a shotgun in the air... so I'm scarred for life, and no not from the glass cutting me!!! haa haa

Well if I voted it would have skewed the results because i lost count of the number of each one. But in total at least two dozen maybe three. I think.:p

Hay but slightly OT, What is the expected lifespan of a silicone jointed tank. After how many years do seams start to pop?

Do you know the answer to this? I'm not sure I want to know though, might give me sleepless nights.

From what I've read and heard about 12 years on the "current" silicones, not sure on the old silicones?

But this could be wrong!

Ive lost Boyu and AquaH20 tanks, various sizes. Will never ever have a curved tank again.
