    Zetlight LED club

Hi,I am looking into possibly using a Zetlight on an SPS and mixed reef system, which is the best of the Zetlight range for a 1.2 meter system. How do they compare to maxspect, AI Hydra 52, Radion, Kessill, etc.

    Fanworm collection possible?

No, they are cold water inverts and do not do well in tropical tanks in the long run.

    Seahorse tank??

You could consider looking at the various tankmates that can be kept with seahorses and set a tank up with some of the easier ones to keep while researching husbandry of seahorses. Look at the seahorse sections and breeding sections on SARK and MASA as well as join seahorse.org which will be...

Coral Fragging and Ornamental Fish Breeding possibly legal in SA!!!

It will be interesting to see which species are being bred in SA. Should also result in locally bred species becoming more easily available.

    Cape Town Catches 2013/2014

Watch out for it biting juvenile fish, a few years ago at Bayworld we had one in a holding tank (the old 120 000 litre tropical tank) with a stack of juvenile butterflies, etc. that were collected over summer and started to notice the butterflies were becoming tailless from it biting the tails...

    Seahorses: The legal part

I see there is some confusion about the old knysna seahorse breeding project. As far as I can remember, Knysna seahorses were once bred for research purposes at the ichtyology section in Grahamstown, very successfully. Bayworld, East London Aquarium, Two Oceans, uShaka and Pretoria National Zoo...

    Phytoplankton cultures/ media / equipment

Not off hand, it is on the bottle I think. If you scratch or do a search through forum posts in the breeding sections and seahorse sections of MASA and SARK you should find the methods that several guys used to raise three types of phytoplankton, rotifers and tigriops. It was simple and very...

    Phytoplankton cultures/ media / equipment

I used the same just as successfully as Guillards F2. Used for rotifer, artemia and tigger pods. For seahorses.

Aqua cultured Pomocanthus maculosus FOR SALE

They were adults at about R50/kg at the fishmarket, you can then ask for them to be cooked as you like, grilled, fried etc. but pay extra for that. Sergeant majors and rabbit fish are cheaper :tt2:

Aqua cultured Pomocanthus maculosus FOR SALE

They are about R50 here! Saw some about a week ago, but not aqua cultured.

    Seahorse medications

If you can get hold of a vet that works with livestock, they can often get hold of small enough amounts of liquid panacur rather than you have to buy larger amounts. I also think it would be a good idea to possibly dose juvenile tropical marines that are collected.

    Raggies from Bayworld released

I was fortunate enough to be asked to help on a project due to my experience at Bayworld, fortunately it went well and I was offered a more permanent position. Due to the confidentiality of the work, I am not really able to say more than it is aquarium related for an international company.

    Raggies from Bayworld released

Yes, apparently they just slot in with the wild raggy patterns, hopefully the male also. Working in the UAE in the aquarium field.
