I am looking at upgrading my tank, I don't want a bigger tank I NEED a bigger tank :p

I want a stand height of at least 100cm to 110 cm high, the reason being is I hate having to bend over to look in my tank. Apart from the obvious fact that getting into your tank for maintenance would be a pain in the butt what other issues could there be?

The tank I am looking at is 180cm (l) x 700 (w) and 700(h)

My previous tank was 1200 x 700 x 700 on a 1000mm high stand. I made it that high for the same reason as you. I just had a little step nearby about 300mm high if I needed to get into that tank. The only other downside of a higher stand is more head pressure on the return pump but other than that, make it as high as you want!

I also per-furs hight, i bought a 2 step ladder and it works excellent for me. When cleaning your tank and bent all the time its a backbreaking. Getting old now.

I have and OceanRunner 3500 so the head on those pumps are not too bad. I don't need Niagara falls through my sump. I really like the look of a tank that I can stand and look into. Hopefully with a high tank the cats will not be so keen to try and jump onto the top of it.

Looking at about 1.5m that the water will drop from your overflow into the tank. need to ensure you got a durso in place. Also no 90 degree elbows but rather 2 * 45 degree bends.

Another consideration, where is the tank? Or to put it in other words, do you and guests sit around in the lounge looking up at the tank. Or is it more in a passage area where you normally stand and check out the tank. If you sit, tank into account that you would be looking up into the lights. Even from under the surface.
