Your Tank can kill you!

After reading about mantisfreak’s little mishap, I started wondering what else in our tanks can kill us, here a short list, please feel free to add to it.

Palytoxin - Zoanthids
Tetrodotoxin - Tetraodontiformes (Puffer Fish, Trigger Fish), blue-ringed octopuses, starfish, one angelfish, crabs and many worms.
Conotoxin - Marine Cone Snail
Saxitoxin - marine dinoflagellates (algae)

Makes me think twice about sticking my hand in the tank, OK I still do stick my hand in occasionally.:whistling:
 
Yellow Foxface rabbitfish, venomous anal and dorsal fin rays that can inflict painful wounds. More venomous than the lionfish.

Diadema longspined urchin, extremely sharp spines that break off in your skin and sting like hell for about 15 minutes. Unable to remove broken off spine as it has barbs on it that hold it in place under the skin. Leave it for your body to dissolve it.

Dont i know that. Bought my tank in Durban from Des. It had a chip and that can cut u very badly.
 
How about tanks that aren't braced properly or the glass is too thin? They can "burst" which could be fatal if you're nearby...

I got nabbed by my foxy once by accident. I just put my hand in some near boiling water for about 30 mins. Pain lingered for a bit but wasn't all that bad! The spike wound took a while to heal but nothing hectic! Still LOVE my foxy lots! :razz:
 
Accidently stuck the Elimin - aptas hypodermic into my finger once, that stings a bit

"Accidently", sure we believe you;)
 
also remember to use gloves while working with coral etc...as they can be toxic if you are by them.
aswell as cuts that are open,try and avoid sticking your hands in the tank
