So I clearly remembered the day that I decided to venture intonthis hobby. Being a youngster my old man use to breed Discus and I was brought up with fish all around me. Then came my teens my brother got a marine tank tank with his first pay check and boy was.jealous. Somehow he had a lion and yellow tang survive together. I remember the days kippy here use go with him in CPT to the beach for salt water.

So I got grew up and got ugly. Luckly I have a fantstic job and am very luck. One day woke up and wanted a marine tank. Spoke to @maxisoft and @dallasg they hooked me up with my current cube (see signiture) I have lost how much money I have spent on this little project but way over R25k. Could I have done it for cheaper yes but its not the point.

In the begining I remember being told you will want a new bigger tank. I though ya ya its just a fad like my other hobbies.

And now? I have the following upgrade,

1.2m x 800 deep and 600 high
Sump 1.1 x 900 x 700 - built in water chabge chamber, top up, QT and frag section.
Engine room: Skimz 202 makulu bass skimmer
FULL Zeo unit
Carbon reactor
Full Profilux ex3 with power bar
X4 Profilux doser
Makulu bass LED lights with sun rise and set including thunder storms - I have no idea why but it sounds cool.
Flow pumps are some cool pumps Kosier or something they hook up to my profilux for thunderstorms and night time.

Well last night the water went in and for the plumbing test today :)

thank you to @maxisoft @dallasg @Submariner and of course @ADVdiver and @Nemos Janitor for all the help

see signiture

Your signiture isn't showing, or is it just me?

This hobby is very addictive I will add that. Most of us think when we enter the hobby that a small tank will satisfy our needs but giev it 6 months and we are already planning an upgrade or devising a new scheme to better the colours of our corals. I must say this is the big thing that seperates marines from other hobbies the fact that you can stay with a thing and upgrade it to tour desire, buying small pieces to make the perfect puzzle you always wanted ( I sound like a philosopher:whistling:).

Congrats on finally getting your tank, and I must say without the help of all of these experienced reefers on MASA none of us would have gotten as far as we did...

Agreed hmmm check my avatar for link i think its because i am replying on my phone

Here are some starter pics, tank is placed by a window where you get nice natural sun light. The blinds are hooked up to my home automation system so I can open and close them remotely. I am currently writing a little bit of software for my home automation system to hook into my profilux. I will use it to open the blinds etc depending on parameters in the profilux. Tank is currently mixing Salt hence the heater in the DT and the pumps are not positioned correctly yet. Just doing a water test and also at the same time mixing around 500l there of salt.

SO STILL TO DO:

1. Wiring
2. Profilux Stuff (no idea but they going to wire everything) Can't wait for a thunderstorm simulation :) : ) :)
3. Waiting on lighting system

where is the tank?
near the window by the kitchen?

Once you set eyes on a Vertex Illumina you will never go back to T5 or MH.

This is going to be a stunning system.

Its not even my tank and i cant wait to get it running.

dude i cant wait to see it in person this week!

still alot to do, the wiring is driving me nuts got a "little" shock today from the profilux but sorted that out. dug the water change channel in the garden today so a water change is just going to be a press of a button on thw profilux and bang it will empty it out to my drain. the only drain available was 40m.from the tank!!!!
