What do Zoa's feed on? are they micro feeders?

By accident the fish i fed another organism floated onto my green zoa's. It closed over the fish and ate it. We gave baby fish to another block of zoa's. they are standing high like anemones when feeding.

Zoa are particle feeders and will close up when they detect food is around, although it is not a coral that needs to be target fed.

Light is the most major food source for these corals

but not all species of zoas will close over food particles, if yours do try feed your fish with small sized defrosted things like krill or mysis shrimp. anything going past the zoas will be gratefully taken in:) but dont feed them specifically, especially in a small tank as that might well lead to you over feeding the tank....aim to feed the fish, let the zoas take what they get:)

Grrrreat - now we know -will tell hubby not to target feed - he fed them baby molly's last night
grrrrr.

thats not nice or right.....

just some defrosted frozen foods is what you need to get. If you really want to feed live things, culture some 'sea monkeys"or artemetia. Easy to do. Feeding live fresh water fish to tanks is not nice at all
