Zoanthid ID needed

    i wouldnt be able to give a specific name to those zoaanthids if thats what you are asking. some places name them after colours (and get colourful with the nameing too) but thats basically just a description on what the zoanthid looks like. Nice little collony you have there though:)

    Thanks guy's! Who cares what the name is anyways. I'm just happy that I have such a nice spesimen and yes butcherman, It is local in Durban. I found it on Amanzimtoti beach.

    there is Z.natalensis and Z.durbanensis, but that one is called Zoanthus sansibaricus.

    Yes, it is definitely Zoanthus sansibaricus. The taxonomy of our local zoanthids is based on morphology, and in the next few years I think there will be some changes and splitting of species and sub species, all based on genetic work:)
