looks like it is on iys way out unfortunately.. I would dip the zoas in ro water and see if any pests come out of it.. and one thing I noticed with zoas is that if the dont get enough light they can close up buy live for month in a dormant state..most likely a pest like nudibranch or sundial snail.. zoas r very hardy when I buy zoas from a pet shop I first dip them in ro water then straight into the tank with out acclimatising them veru hard coral to kill

I saw my camel shrimp and hermit crab by the zoa in the morning could they contribute to the zoa dying?

My dancing shrimp was always on my Zoas and he was the cause of some of them looking like yours they tend to eat leather corals etc. You could see him ripping it apart. I have since got rid of him and now my Zoas are growing like crazy.

@Fraser W, there could be lots of reasons. Just check what the other members also have to say. I know my shrimp was the cause. I watched him every night when the lights go off. He heads straight for the Zoas. The Zoas close but he still tries to rip them apart.

Hermits too? Have quite a few hermits but no Zoas. When I still had my camels they where my most loved LS. Never had the smallest issues with them. Never bothered a snail, hermit, or coral.

I guess they each have their own little personality. The same can be said for the purple reef lobster. In some tanks they are kept them without any issues what so ever, and others they are the root of all evil.

It's what we call character
