I recently upgraded from the 1201 Marine to the 1201-WiFi.
Quite a nice improvement from the 1201. Larger amount of Red and Green LED and the lenses on the blue and violet helps too.
The Horizon app is handy and easy to use, with the acclimation mode being a handy tool when adding new corals. Only thing they should change or update, is adding a gradual fade when it changes between the time modes. It just switches over from full day to sunset instantly. Unless there is some setting I am missing.
Not the the worst flaw but the 1201 on the 1002 controller faded nicely between modes.

keep an eye on your fans guys the inute the fans start seizing you need to lubricate them, i use a silicone based lubricant simply because i prefer the gel like coating it provides but DWF or Q20 will work,.

when the fans stop working the diodes overheat resulting them to run hot and colour frequency changes in the diode, it eventually burns out..

Do you need to take it apart to lubricate?

the fans id do once every six months but check that they are working more frequently. the entire unit i would do yearly, ill do a tutorial when i next do mine.

opening the unit will void warranty so id suggest just checking fans for the warranty period and progress to more indepth servicing after that.

please note tgat units put in enclosed hoods deffinatley seem to have more issues than those more open to the surrounding air in my experience.

I Just loosened the fans from the unit, Slightly (about half way) peal the sticker of the centre of the fan to reveal the bush, then just add a drop of lubricant. Stick back the sticker and re assemble the fan housing!

Hi there, looking at replacing the 4 x T5 tubes in my Magic Wave 102, that I’m starting up again with a LED unit. The tank has a hood, and when I remove the T5 tubes, ballast and reflectors, there should be enough space to accommodate the LED unit.
Tank dimensions are 600mm long x 300mm wide x 420mm deep. My plan is a mixed reef setup with some softies and LPS.
Any suggestions on the best unit for this setup will be appreciated.

Does the Zetlight ZA1201 have built in setting, or does it require an external controller?

You can get an external controller zn1002 or get the 1201 Wi-Fi which is controlled from a mobile phone. I recently upgraded to the Wi-Fi and happy with it
