Was in Zanzibar two months ago, i took my fishing gear up and didnt have any problem. dont reckon there will be any issue, they are rather chilled out. and if someone does hassle you, a golden handshake will do the job! where about you going? north is best, east coast you will need to swim for like 2km before you even hit waist deep water!

I was there last month. didn't go to Nungwe but went to Mnemba twice. Snorkeling there was the most awesome thing I have ever done(Outside the bedroom;)) Mnemba has two spots, make sure you go to both. Very different.

Budget wise you can look at R10000 for 7 days all inclusive, food & drinks. No limit on the drinks  . I stayed in Mapenzi Beach club, awesome place. My GF and I took $700 with in cash and spent it all but we went souvenier crazy.

In a group of 4 we went snorkeling at Mnemba through the local tour guides for $30 each, the hotels charge like $60 each. Also don't get caught up in what they call Blue Safari, total rip off. We paid $80 to go through and were told it was the most amazing snorkeling spots. BS would have rather done Mnemba 2 more times and saved $20. They real you in saying you get this amazing lunch on the beach bla, bla. The hotels food was 10 times better.

I have the contact details for our tour guide if you're interested. Super guys. We did the stone town and spice tour with them as well.

I don't think you can go this time of year though, their rainy season already started if I'm not mistaken. I think later in the year is the time to go again.

PS, it was the most awesome holiday I have ever had. Humidity was really high but thats what the pool/pool bar is for.:1:

The season there has gone into quet season now, this however is the most awesome time for diving, if there arnt storms.

the hectic season starts end july to october then it becomes too warm again to do anything.

When i go i dive for free so no idee on diving cost there. when i went last i did three dives a day, hour each. for four days, had two days rest and then the same thing.

    was definitely awesome.

hahahaa you can walk to sodies from empangeni...

It's not a real holiday if you can quickly nip home to get the" left behind tin opener"....

well not really walk... maybe an hour and a half drive max... it talks longer to drive from fishhoek to melkbos...
