List your top 5 fish in this thread, and even better, tell us why!!

mine are (and probably will change... ):

    1) Regal Angel: really, you need to know why? the rarity of getting it to stay alive and the bright colours makes this fish in my top 5! I hope to be getting one soon!
    2) French Angel: probably never will keep it since it WILL eat corals but the beauty of contrasting colors as well as its awesome shape keeps me loving it!
    3) Masked Angel: Wow.. i will never own.. cold and deep water species!!!! im a sucker for simple and elegant fish. this one makes the cut
    [IMG]

    4) Golden Semilarvatus Butterflyfish: you can keep it in pairs and the blue on the face makes this thing oh so fine!!

    5) The Moorish Idol: keeping it local caught and keeping it alive! nothing can beat this trail of the dorsal fin as this beauty gracefully moves around a tank!

    Honourable mentions:
flasher wrasses, Chromis, saddleback fly, tamarin wrasse, gem and purple tang, queen angel, flame angel, mandarin, soah surgeon

why did you not put a queen in there, or a emp, what is a reef without an angel pecking in amongst there, sort of like an anenemoe without the clowns.....but why you say a frenchie?

Why does everyone love the big fish??!!

    1. Sohal tang, dived with them in egypt - most stunning fish i've seen with amazing character and behavior
2.mandarin - such a beautiful fish, looks almost unreal, super elegant and well evolved
    3. Common ocellaris clown - Very dumb but beautiful fish, quote from one of my friends - 'Its like super graphic reconstruction where the colours are painted on, fish ca'nt look that good' and what other fish is more compatible with a beautiful anemone??dont say maroons :p
    4. cleaner wrasse - always so active and so brave around big fish! what other fish cleans like these guys? most fish cower when i stick my hand into the tank but my cleaner, no, he tries cleaning my hand!
    5. bi-colour blenny - been with me since the beginning and excused all my mistakes, so much character and actually comes to my face when i call him 5 cm from the glss, stands his ground in the tank, doesnt fight but doesnt take kak

    Ja !

    1) Sohal tang makes my top spot. When I got back into Marines I found the Reef Central Forum first. I saw the fish on their logo and knew I "needed" one

    2) Clown Surgeon. dont know why, but I've always had an attraction to this local fish. Not sure how I'm going to keep one of these and the above though !

3)Mandarin, one of my perenial favourites

    4) Yasha goby is an example of the incredible variety of rare and secretive gobies out there. I like the way they only occasionally show themselves, making the viewing all the more special. Dont know where I'd currently keep them though. Little nano fish seem to go missing in my big outfit???

    5) the good old common Emperator, pretty special to me

    1) Sunburst Anthia

Reason: A more compact specimen in the Anthia (Pseudanthia) family... Brilliant color and looks awesome in a school... Scarce too thus a bit pricey...

    2) Blue eyed / faced cardinal

Not the pretiest of fish if kept alone, BUT, this is IMO the BEST schooling fish of all in the trade... They dont just swim together randomly, they even look in the same direction!!!

    3) Mandarin

Just look at it!!! The most beautful fish in the ocean IMO. VERY difficult to keep and not at all for beginners, but a nice fish that is great to see hovering over the reef like a gunship helicopter...

    4) Moorish Idol

A fish that IMO should rather be kept in the ocean... This is truelly like Legolas from Lord of the Rings... It is very majestic. Almost impossible to keep though, so I would personally steer away from it...

    5) Percula Clown (NEMO!!!)

Come one... must the most popular of all fish, but no other fish has the swimming patern this fish has... Have it host in a nennie or other coral, and one can sit for hours watching it wriggling inside the tentacles... Also quite a hardy fish from my experience, and brilliantly coloured.

    There's my 2c...
