Who is the youngest knowledgable reffer on MASA, or who is the parent of a young reefer within MASA?

My daughter is 8yrs old and she shows a keen enthusiasm and learns all about what I am up to, the how's and why's and in's and out's and is maybe a few steps behind me now in terms of the technical knowledge - not by far though, but in some areas advance beyond me when it comes to labeling fish & LS.

Hah, did I put ideas in your mind?
    Dont underestimate the kids.
My son knew every fish in my tank by his scientific name, at the age of five.
I wonder if he is still interested in marines.

At least you noticed her interest. Teach her, maybe by the end of this year she want to run her own cube. With CB ponies?
    Weaned of course.

I try teach her as much as her little brain will absorb, much with my son, he is only 5 but his brain is like a little spnge too...on the way home the other day they were discussing how they are going to go into business together but have to be on opposite ends of the business so that they avoid fighting at work and then can still be friends - it is just crazy how they pick up on this sort of thing so young. At their age I recall thinking about nothing but playing with friends...not business ideas...

    CB ponies?? What are they?

I did a presentation to 85 six year olds on my seahorse fry and a few other marine animals a few years ago. The presentation went WAY over the time I was allowed because the kids kept asking questions....Teachers were not happy because another class wanted to use the room! Ooops! I brought live brine, live phytoplankton, 10 week old seahorses, an urchin, and some crabs into the school. They were amazed! It was really neat to see them so interested.

Mine is 8 and since Marcel & myself started talking about CB ponies he wants his own tank to breed scorpionfish !

Yes I think the sooner they get involved the better, maybe they will tell their friends etc etc thus we can start preserving in stead of killing the ocean !

@ Brenda, that must have been cool, I have also toyed with the idea of a travveling marine setup for educational purposes at schools
