Dont fret.... we all go that way... what lights do you have? these can make a huge difference in temp. A cheaper way in the interim is to make a cooling unit with Pc fans and a power supply over your sump..... Just a suggestion...

It's a good thing you took the heater out. Add it back when it's winter.
How about using some normal household fans?

I had the same problem, just put a normal standing fan over the tank and manage to keep the temp at bout 27-27.5, even on days when temp goes up to 32/33 degrees outside

There's no point in taking the heater out. It shouldnt be coming on if you're tank is warmer than its preset temperature. If it is - then its faulty!

Those temps are pretty high, but we are having a bit of a warm patch. I find the ambient is fine in winter. My all in one mantis nano is sitting on 28 with the hatches open and a desk fan blowing on it. But as boegie says the most affordable and realisable solution is a PC fan blowing on it. You can rig these up to an old cellphone charger or something with around 9-12v output.

What is your total water volume? What pump/pumps are you running? How much watts do they suck and how much water they pump per hour? Is your tank/sump standing against an outside wall?

I find it ridiculous to remove a heater in summer. Like Dane said, it should not come on if the water temp is higher than its thermostat. It is risky taking it out as you might get a sudden cold front and the tank will go too cold. Leave it in if its not faulty.

Its the heatwave. Not much you can do besides using frozen RO water bottles and fans when you dont have a chiller yet.
My water temp average is 27 degrees and can quickly shoot to 30! Have not lost a single fish yet, but corals will suffer from 28 - 29 degrees.

Why frozen RO? IMHO it's only wasting RO water. Use clean 2l coke bottles (and make sure they're clean). However, I tried using the frozen bottles, but they thaw within minutes so it's not the most effective way to cool the tank unless you're at the tank 24/7 and change the bottles every so often...

How big is the return chamber and what return pump is being used?

If you need to top up as an example 3 litre RO per day, take 3x 1kg joghurt tubs, fill it with RO water, freeze it and add the litre icecubes when needed.
Another thing is, your air intake from the skimmer can be from the outside. That means that your skimmer will suck past 8pm until 6am only cool air. Usually below the 20 degree mark. So maybe you can extend with a piece of bigger hosepipe the air intake to the outside. The closer the distance from the outside to the intake, the better the result.

Frozen RO just in case the water leaching out of bottles.
Fans on a timer and using a topup unit for the evaporation. You are correct that it is not the most effective way to use the bottle method, but it is the quickest when it is very hot.

    then.

now i take 5 different heaters.
    3 different makes.

    50w / 100w / 150w and 2 x 300w
i set them all to 26

put them in my tank one by one.
and guess what they all turn on and start heating up.

Then you still have to add the skimmer pump. Another thing is, your thermometer might be not very accurate. Double check with other thermometers.

I am running 600l with 70 watts power for two pumps, plus 300 watts light and I don't have that problem.
