    Hi

My yellow wrasse seems to be having a fit/shaking. Everything else seems ok he's just shaking. Can anyone advise what may be wrong.

    Kind regards

    My first thought as well.

Fish might not concur with the same funny sided humor you express if it is receiving electrical current.

Hi no it's not earthed, how would I go about this. I have a Red Sea 250.

But why is it only this fish not all the others.

I thought fish inside a tank can't be shocked?

Not sure why you should think that? What might be the purpose of electric eels and rays.

Carlos asked if the tank was earthed. If the tank is earthed then the contents could be getting shocked.

As a suggestion I would check for stray electrical current in your system as this is a symptom for the condition you describe for your fish.

Some fish are more sensitive than others.

Of course it may not be stray electricity so best is to rule it out. There are many threads here on MASA describing earth probes and the effect of stray electricity on fish. Troll a bit here.

I believe there was an earlier thread about stray electricity where they said fish could not be shocked. Guess it is possible then

Guys please look at it from this point of view.

A wild bird, perched an a hi voltage power line does not get electrocuted because it does not complete a circuit. As soon as the birds wing touches earth the circuit is completed and then the bird is toast.

The same applies in our aquariums. Fish are not electrocuted whilst there is no earth. As soon as a earth is applied and there is stray current in the aquarium then they get electrocuted. The same for the reefer that puts his hand into a unearthed aquarium. The reefer becomes the earth conductor.

In most aquariums there is some form of leak to earth. This can cause discomfort to the fish.

There's your answer, please be very careful not to touch the water again still the stray current is taken care of. This could lead to serious injury.

You should also look into grounding the tank - for safety's sake.
