I just returned from a week long holiday, and saw hat my Yellow Prawn Goby has a hole on the one side.

    My other inhabitants are:

    2 Ocelaris clowns
    1 Cleaner Shrimp
    1 Cleaner Wrasse
    2 Blue Hermits
    1 Pink Spot Shrimp Goby
    1 Bi-Color Blenny

All the other fisg seems fine.

Someone who looked after my tank last monday reported that the Goby had a reddish spot on the side, so I assumed it got spooked and hurt itself.

I do not have a hospital tank as yet.

    Any advice?

    Holy crap, that's not a hole, that's Kimberley's hole!

I suspect that some parasite is eating him or something as the flesh is not torn. Besides, if a hermit should pinch him he would swam away before the hermit can make a hole like that.

Damn that looks massive...definitely not just a "normal injury"...I would be with Tobes on this , could be some kind of parasite.

There also seems to be some discoloration around the wound as if its spreading. I seriously doubt if it would recover from a wound like that.

I personally would have rather euthenized it to limit possible further infection

Wow, that's hectic, I've got no advice for you, sorry, but don't be in a rush to kill it/euthanise it, you'll be surprised at some of the injuries that these fish are able to survive.

Is it swimming around and eating or does it look very lethargic?

It is still swimming around - hanging out in the same cave as my Cleaner shrimp. Was wondering if the Cleaner maybe put him on some treatment... :p

Will see what he looks like tomorrow....

@ HenkHugo No - I have 2x150W in the sump.

Have 2 Watchman with a hole in one. Does this mean I must buy everyone a round? :p

That's just plain sick - he died during the night.
