WOW finally i switched to MARINE

parameters

Hey guys. So after 9 days this is my parameters.......... Any advice on hw far I may be in the cycle?

Ph 8.1
Nitrate - 10mg/l
Nitrite - 0mg/l
Amonia - no test kit yet
Kh - 7dKH
Salinity - 1.027
Calcium - 300mg

An what I should tweak in the meantime?.......:whistling:

Calcuim looks quite low,it needs to be in the 400-440 range...also salinity can be gradually adjusted to 1.027 unless you using NSW(natural seawater)?

you are topping up any evaporation with fresh/RO water, right?

Wait till your nitrates go to zero and then monitor for one or two more days to make sure nitrites etc dont go up...

Ok, so once I adjust, then I monitor till the 6 weeks dun? I use water from the aquarium an didn top up yet, but I knw I must use RO lol..........u think my bio system will crash wen I remove the LR an water, to put the stand an sump in place, I will be re-usin the water tho

not crash...but you should get a mini cycle again so rather give it a week or two longer to adjust...add some bacteria if you want to speed up the cycle...like yuri's reccommendations or use seachem stability or brightwells microbacter 7 depending whats available at your lfs....

i thin kyou need to stop worrying about counting the days till your cycle is done. Everyones tanks cycles for slightly diferent times and its best to decide when your cycle is done by checking parameters rathere than by counting the days/weeks. Especially aince you draining your tank, adding sump, etc your cycle will be a bit different.
As Yuri and Falcon have already suggested, once your sump is connected get some bacteria (i have used Stability and can reccommend it) to help spped up the cycle.
Then sit back, relax, be paitent and wait for your parmeters to settle.

Anyways..... While waiting, I'm goin with a 3 chamber sump ....1st is narrow dual for filter media....2nd is medium for DSB an 3rd is large for all equip.... Wat u guys think an its 1.2x450x420... Goin for the max water volume as my tank is + - the same size so bout 500 litres all together.......so hopefuly gettn tank back from drillin tomorw an sump too den will post sum more pics, OMG, I forgot, I dunno hw to do the plumbin:whistling:

Hopefully tomorw!!!;)

looking good man!Make the dsb chamber large as possible not medium lol

you need a huge surface area for a DSB that can handle all of your tank nutrients.

Why have you got fish already? This tank isn't even done yet? It's not a very good idea to add fish before the cycle is complete. The build up of nitrite and ammonia could kill them.

Rather let the tank cycle for at least 6 weeks before you start adding fish. You could add a hermit and some snails from about 4 weeks...

This game is all about patience. Impatience costs big bucks to fix.

But on the plus side... That is a fantastic start to the tank! It will look stunning!
