I have a shroom growing on a shell at the front of my tank. So far it's the only one I've seen doing this. It seems to regurgitate its guts, a mass of (very pretty) frilly lobes which flutter in the flow.

Is this feeding behaviour? Or is it taking a dump, so to speak? (Pushing it's innards out so that indigestibles may be flushed)

    Thanks!

One or 2 of my mushrooms do the same. It only happens now and then and is not a regular occurance. After a while the mushroom is back to its "normal" self.

I would also look to know what this is.

It could be expelling any uneaten food or undigested food particles. Shrooms are similar to anemones and they do eat small food particles if caught by them or if the land on their discs.

Maybe it doesn't like the food you feeding it?

It can get stuffed. There are many poor starving shrooms in eastern Europe.

I have an orange shroom that does the same whenever I touch it accidentally. Vomits out it's pretty white guts and swallows them again after a few minutes.

Maybe protective like a lizzards tail or maybe I just have that effect on corals.
