impeller was too small to run enkamat efficiently making my bluerotor 1000 aquamedic a waste of time. the impeller was enkamat between retainers. in a moment of boredom i removed enkamat. ,bridged the gap between tips of retainers with luminous weedeater gut. to prevent flexing when 'spinning the web' and also giving surface area to ensure waterflow. spun the web and secured it by rubbing gel superglue over areas in contact with retainers. it has improved the bubble volume by 200 percent at least! to get the idea tho look at my spiderwheel on other thread.[IMG][IMG] new pure spiderwheel(tiny)[IMG]

i have got all sorts of pumps and impellers. pin ,needle etc including bubble blaster hy1000s, otp 3000 , altman, aquamedic and i am always experimenting to improve impeller performance. and this mod puts the aquamedic right up with the bubble blaster ( think there is a slightly lower flow rate on the aquamedic)

I want to try this on my tdnw 300 skimmer. It has 3 x Octopus 2000 pumps strapped on. My one impeller shaft is broken where can I get one?

yip i have shafts and impellors, however i must add that while i think the idea rocks and the finished product looks great) to me that gut is eventially going to let go when you least expect it and bugger up the pump. (supa glue or not....to much stuff goes through that pump over time)
dont think you would get any warranty claims, so i would not take the risk on those octo pumps dude

@mandarinman, reviving a very old thread.

Did this work and what was the result? How long did it last?

I am considering modifying my (brand new) impeller of my Reef Octopus's pump.

The result was a finer denser bubble cloud. It works. The guy that bought my skimmer with that spiderweb impeller sold it when he went nano! No complaints.
