Will this type of LED's work

    I just redone some lighting in my house and have some leds left over I was wondering if i could use it on my tank and replace my T'5's with them 31624e4d35901a9fe.jpg

    It would all depend on their Kelvin rating, and PAR output. I would hazard a guess at them being ok for a sump, not for the display tank though.

    i would say it will all depend on how many units (like the ones in the pic) you going to use.

    I've seen these ones at builders warehouse

    They are only 40lm per watt so you may need quite a few, the color at 4200K may also not be the best. I think I read somewhere that you can get away with lower K bulb's with LED's, I may very well be wrong though.

    Cool for sump. Especially the 6000 to 10000K range.

    Other than that.

    LEDS are getting better. the 3W types looks promising. But you need a lot together to make an impact. On a Nano system I saw a nice LED fixture that outdone a 150W metal halide. On the same depth using a PAR reader. Check out Dorry Pets threads, they got it up there.
