I am having the following situation. I can get a large lipstick tang 4 free, but it's very aggresive in the current tank ( 4ft). I'm having a 1.8m tank, lots of swimming space and place 4 hiding. The fish in my tank currently is a regal tang,(large), indian sailfin tank(med), african clown(large),pygmy angels(bicolour& coral beauty),cardinals and a lionfish(med). Will the fish's behaviour change if i take it,or will it also kill/attack my fish?

Hi Frankie - WOW! That must be an amazing gift!

BUT, that said - you MIGHT have crap from the sailfin tang, and possibly regal tang. As these fish were in the tank first, they might give the new lipstick tang crap....

BUT, if it was me - I would have taken the fish....

Just remember the lipstick will grow more I think its 450- 500mm max. A if its big already thatr may be the reason for its aggresion.

Bob - I think that it's more "frustration" than true "aggression". It is currently being kept in a 4 foot tank.....

Whatever you want to call it it's leading to aggression. I'm just warning that it may happen again quicker than you think. If there is another bigger tank after that then I suppose its OK.

I must say - I had 3 lipstick tangs already - and one was a full adult (not 400mm though - more like 250mm), and I never experienced any aggression from my lipstick tangs (I had both the elegans as well as the other one).....

ok,the tang is about 150mm,same size as my regal, the sailfin is a bit smaller,so i don't think the sailfin will cause problems. My main concern is that he will attack my fish

Frankie Fish - remember: the lipstick tang will be the new oke on the block..... so, he SHOULD not be the one that causes problems...
