    Hi all

THe hood for my tank collapsed and I lost all my lighting ( 8 * T5's -54 watts) on Sunday. Since I want to upgrade to LED's sometime this year,I decided to get a second hand unit which is 1.8m long and has 3 x150 MH and 4 T5's on the sides(2 on each side) as an interim solution. My tank size is 2m long (Length) and the depth(height) is 80cm. Currently the unit is hanging +-20cm above the water level.

The lighting doesn't look as bright , so I need to find out if this lighting provided by the unit is sufficient for the following corals which i have as some of them are at the bottom of the tank:
frog spawns, xenia trees, kenya coral tree, mushrooms and zoas.

did the previous owner indicate the age of the globes?

The corals you got is mostly softies and would be OK under 150W MH

that unit should be fine for softies. if in doubt you can life the corals closer to the surface a little as thats a nice deep tank.

what LED unit are you thinking of getting? why not save the money for the MH unit and go straight to LED if thats your end goal, its often best to buy right the first time with marines rather than doing interim sollutions as such?
