    Hi All

I am not trying to hawk anything here but I have a friend who is culturing live plancton. He has nannochloropsis occulata and isochrysis galbana, which are used to raise fish fry and crustaceans and I would like to know if there is a market for these products in marine aquaria before he goes ahead on a mass production sale?

I am only asking to get a feel of the demand if any.

 I wouldn’t mind buying that, I've been looking for some live plankton for a general nutrient source for my tank, and im pretty sure lots can benefit from that.
    Keep us posted please.

They also help reduce nutrients but consuming nitrogen and phosphorus and provide a source of food for corals and inverts

If available in central Gauteng, yes please.

Could it also serve as food for goldies / anthias?

Maybe I could get him to supply our sponsors direct so there can be some all over Jo'burg and Pretoria.

Nathan, I'm not sure on the price but I can ask.

Keegan I am testing the stuff and I like it. I would be nice to test it on corals in NPS systems and with animals like feather stars and goniopora

Hi Tony, generally with cultures, it is passed on with a pay it forward type of attitude. I have Tet, Nanno and Iso phytoplankton; L strain rotifer and Tigger pods. I received them for free and it is customary to pay for shipping, packing and a bit for inconvenience and time. The idea being that those that you have supplied become your back up for crashes. I think those interested should first do the research as it involves a lot of work and time. Also the ideal is if you have received cultures from someone in the past, if you receive a culture of something that they want in the future from another source you would try to send them some.
Basically a network of those doing cultures can then be built up that provide and assist each other with back ups, advice and cultures.
