U dip in iodine to kill external bacteria, I divided it into a rectangular and triangular prism then added the volumes

    Hi Dallas

i got this info re this spesimen....
These animals are not corals at all, rather, they are "tunicates" or more properly, Ascidians. They are what they call a Urochordate, basically meaning that they are somewhat of a chordate when in larval stage. Kind of a "missing link" between vertebrates and invertebrates. Cool animals, but not necessarily very easy to keep (not at all).

but the picks i can see looks diferent ...they have long branches and start thin and go wider to the end..

i wil look around a bit more...

This is a bluebery one, they have openings @ 2 ends one to inhale warter and the other to pump it out...thats how they feed...the oyher ones they show look same but more like spunges...with openings..not like this one "spring type"

Its a sponge, removing from the water will kill it for sure.

+1 on the sponge, but I have no idea how to narrow it down from there. Sponges generally fare badly in captivity, particularly the big, complex looking ones. They normally have specialised requirements. The little scrappy ones can often make do, finding a microclimate they can live with in the tank.

Not to be a pessimist, but I reckon your chances are one in a hundred to keep this thing alive longer than a few months. Don't beat yourself up, though. Just do better research before you buy something.

    Good luck!
