So as the title suggests.. Who has blue green chromis that school in their tank?

How many do you keep? Any issues or tricks to get them to school?

Post a pic if possible? ;)

I added chromis as some of my first fish I ever bought. I started of with 7, I have 4 left that live together in 1.2m tank. They been together for about 10months I reckon. But yes they do kill each other. If you read up on them they say you need to keep them in uneven numbers. I keep 4?????????

Yeah i also read this on other forums. apparently there is blue chromis that do school.

I must say I hadnt had an issue were they killed each other off... just once when there was an injured one. The most I kept was 6 and they didnt really school. would stay together for a while and then split. I think they need to have some sort of threat to school.

I remember when I kept freshwater tanks, I always wanted neons to school. The eventually did when i picked the numbers to 15 and added some larger, faster fish like danios, they started schooling.

Not sure if 4 classify as schooling, but mine doesnt school. They stay together for a while and then they start to chase each other around.

The effect of them schooling is awesome. I would definitely love to find a way to achieve this

Chromis are very strange fish in what I saw happening in my tank.....I started of with 4, and one got killed. next month I bought another 4 and 3 got killed. I even tried adding another species but that was just stupid of me.....guess what...they also didnt last. Still have 4l eft after they killed each other off and now they seem happy. Dont ask why, or how it works.....I dont know.

From what I noticed chromis are greedy fish. They eat anything and everything that goes into the tank. They harass any new fish for nori and when I feed brine. Maybe they feel threatened when there are large numbers and they feel there wont be enough food?

From what i have come to understand is that chromis are like goldfish they do not have a stomach as such only an intestinal tract, so the key to keeping them in numbers is too keep them well fed some say 4 or more feedings per day, Same as in nature if there is not enough food to keep all happy they will pick on the weakest fish to decrease numbers so that more food is available.. my advice would be to get and automatic feeder that can feed multiple feeding a day in small doses..

Thats what I was thinking too.. but you will end up overfeeding some other fish... if there is such a thing as overfeeding fish... they're always hungry.

just feed small amounts those chromis never stop eating.. i think you can overfeed just make sure to feed enough so they eat all and leave nothing or else you'll pay in algae and more maintenance

I started off with 2 and they seemed fine.one medium/large the other small.
But I've recently added a third small one to make up 3 in my 4ft tank.
But last night I noticed the larger one seems abit tatty along the top of its body and fins.
    So I don't know what's happening.
But yes they stick together some times then go off on each ones mission.
