    Hi guys

OK, so I bought livestock from another reefer and also purchased some live rock. Amongs the livestock is a cute little snowflake eel about the size of a pen, +-15cm long.
I got a lot of respect for this little guy when he attacked a hermit with shell size of 6cm long and 3-4cm wide. He targeted it, went into the shell and just ripped it apart, never thought it would do that.

OK, so now I saw a little green peacock mantis shrimp in the new live rock, about 4cm long (in the same tank as the eel).

I don't want either one to die as I would like to put each in a species tank of their own - which I still need to do. I got place for the mantis in a big sump.

Do you think the mantis have enough firing power to take the eel out...or visa versa?

I say eel. The eel can eat it in one shot. The mantis will still need to hit the eel

    Sheez, I dunno hey..

I saw this eel attacing that Hermit.. if the eel gets one good bite first, the mantis is hisory..but on the other hand, if the mantis grabs the eel and mursit..

Best is to sump the mantis for now... then both remain in the land of the living

Yeah, I think so too. Will sump the mantis until I have another tank for him. I'll feed him regularly :)

Ok, tiny mantis in a 110litre sump with lots of live rock. A feisty little bugger too, hitting the feeding stick like that... :48:

He is so tiny and I acclimatised him in the piece of rock he's hiding in. He stays in a hole on the side and you can only see him moving using a torch. I slowly held the stick at the hole and wam!!!

LOL Tobie, we call them the .38 specials and believe me when I say we deal with them a lot! And according to those who felt the blast of the little fellars, they can be small, but when their little hammers drop it feels like a .38 special hitting you!
I love them, they have personality and yes they do get tame after a while...just routinely feed them and you'll soon see he is a friend! :D packing a mean punch!

We've got a monster here now of at least 6 - 7 cm long!

LOL, so now you start to enjoy the wild, wild west in your tanks! Nothing like two or more pistols and a mantis fighting about squatting space!

I cracked myself. I was feeding the mantis and one of the hermits also wanted a piece of the meat and moved to the mantis's "front door"
All of a sudden I heard a snap from the little mantis and the big hermit fell of the rock. He is OK, but probably shit himself...
