Whitespot: Know your enemy

Did you bucket transfer him as well before putting him in the quarantine?

Sorry, should have asked this first. If you did not, you can still bucket transfer him before moving directly to main system. Then treat the quarantine system as possibly infected and let it stand for 6 weeks.

No I did not bucket transfer him. But if he doesn't show symptoms after 2 months in quarantine can he still infect the main system if I put him back?

then yes, you only need one small little spot to carry over. It can be on his gills. A few spots will not affect the fish. Not change his behavior.

Know the post is old, but would like some guidance on this. Yes I have the basterd of a White spot Badly due to a stupid mistake, have lost all my nice fish now in a Matter of two weeks. The following is what I Have in mind,

Leave tank Dormant for two months

Place remaining fish in Quarantine tank and treat them with Microbe-Lift Herbtana for the Two months.

Will this Clear my Tank and fish from this pest?

Leave tank Dormant for two months
Yes, good idea.

Place remaining fish in Quarantine tank and treat them with Microbe-Lift Herbtana for the Two months.
How will you ensure that you do not carry the whitespot to the quarantine tank and infect that system as well?

Please do the bucket method for 10 days before putting the fish in the quarantine. Only way for you to be sure that you are now pests free, unless you got access to a microscope.

Rather start tonight.
The weekend is still 4 long days away.

Imagine you sitting in a blocked up sewer for 4 days. With nowhere to go to get away from the stench. The same for your fish, cannot get away from the pests.

Thanks, will see if i can make a plan to get to a Petshop today for the Pumps. Do i need water movement or can i use a airstone on a airpump?

Do i need water movement or can i use a airstone on a airpump?

Either.
But you would need 2 flow pumps.
Or
need 2 airstones. Plus the flexible hose to it.

Plus 2 small heaters.

You need to let the equipment dry out as well. Everytime you move them from bucket to next bucket.

Got the pumps and two buckets, but Unfortunately I only have one Damsel left in the sump. All fish in Display are gone (Dead). :m22:Seems some of them had brooklynella. Now I will only have a Coral Tank with no fish for a long long time.

Eish. Now you got one fish to bucket. Sounds like a lot of hassle, but you cannot let it stay in the system.

No dropped the damsel of at a Petshop this Morning, told them what happend. He showed no signs of Infection at all looked like any other healthy fish, but they are aware of his current Health.

Bringing up a very old thread here. I live in China and set up a 1200L system. I always believed in hypo for qt. So set up a old sump I had with some matrix, and added fish. By doing this I killed thousands and thousands of Rands worth of fish. The last fish I lost was a massive yellow belly regal tang. After fighting for 9 days to get him to eat I lost him on day 16. Went to bed, all seeming fine, woke up and saw he acted strangely. Tested no3 and it was well over 50ppm. With the tank in hypo it was too difficult to get the water parameters the same and I killed him and the lipstick that was with him. Out of desperation I reached out to @RiaanP , who without hesitation took my call and he made me a little wiser. I started doing his TTM as he explained to me and I will be moving my fish to the holding tank tomorrow, and tomorrow afternoon I’m getting a couple of beautiful clowns that I’ll also post about. This method is insane. It’s the easiest way I’ve ever qted a fish. The fish has absolutely no stress. I am doing 2 yellow Coris Wrasse and a white spotted blenny. Yeah, the blenny doesn’t make this worth the write, but the coris is. Not once has the 2 Coris try to jump. They pop out of the sand just after 8am and by 5pm it’s nite nite time. This is the most stress free I have ever qted any fish. It takes me 10-15 minutes to do the transfer and 5 minutes for the cleaning; 10 if I have a beer distracting me. That’s it. Finished. Klaar gepraat... Effortless.... What more do you want? After this it’s of to a holding tank for 30 days. My holding tank is a old sump, 150L in total. It contains ceramic ring, a canister filter, heater, and a octopus classic 2000-HOB skimmer. Thats it, simple. Thank you buddy. You saved a lot if fish that’s still to come. I am truly grateful for all your help.
