Hi all, my toadstool used to be a light brown but has gone white. Been like this for several months and otherwise seems fine. Do you know if its faily normal?[IMG][/IMG]

Is it getting adequate lightning? They tend to be more light when the light is on the lower side.

That actually looks stunning, lol. But it does look like it's expelled it's zooxanthellae for some reason. Have you had any parameter swings? Temperature fluctuations? Large change in lighting perhaps, like a new light unit?

yes, my calcium reactor became blocked and started dumping "egg smelling" water into the tank. It took ages before I noticed it as it all sits outside. I then did a large water thing by linking my two tanks together through a 1000liter jojo can, big is better right :banghead:. that added an additional 1000liters to the system bringing the total water volume to just under 4000liters. which I suspect made too large a change. Long story lost a few hard corals. Separated the tanks. This coral sulked for about a month (shrivelled and didn't open up) then decided no one cares so it opened up and is looking great, just white??? The other corals are all growing again and parameters are great, possibly not enough Nitrates?:confused1: Doesn't seem to be affecting the way it closes and opens up. Maybe I should frag it and sell it as an albino toadstool.$$$$

You probably should have started by telling us that information. :p

The coral should be fine, it will just take a long time to regain it's original colour. Keep the parameters stable and it should be fine.
