    Hi guys.
What is this stuff growing or forming on the cheato.
    Good or bad.
    What causes it.

Looks like a sponge. Harmless and beneficial as it filters the water as well.

The sandy part at the bottom looks like it was touching sand.

Anyway, it does look like some sort of sponge. Can move it against a rock, the underside to help it to grow onto the rock. Great filtration feeders.

What helps the sponge to grow.
I have a 4w LED spot in the sump.
Will place as much of the sponge near a rock and hope to have the sponge move onto the rock in the sump.for extra special filtration stage

Sponge does not need light. Grow better under rocks or where fish like angels cannot get to them.
