I came to my tank this morning and it looked like a grave yard. Lost nearly all my fish. My question to you is, how will you ever know if you are rid of this killer disease?

Hey I'm sorry to hear about your loss!!!You'll note it visually on the fishes bodies the white spots, the fish will scratch them self on the rocks and sand. The fish won't feed normally.

    Is all your equipment functioning?

Sorry to here of your loss..My advice will be for you to stop stocking your tank for at least the next 3 months..Let the cycle complete on its own for the water to mature...in this time ad your bacteria and do only top ups as needed... and sit it out and wait...

From there you stock with one or two fish at a time and wait it out again before adding more..If you want to succeed you have to be patient..there is no other way..

To answer your question re- WS...yes it will be WS free in 3 months...this however does not mean you won’t get it back in the future..If the fish stress and tank conditions is not optimal the fish will get WS again..its like cancer...

Every one of us will have opinions as to how to get rid of this and that...when to stock and what not to...But the basics in starting a marine tank stay the same...You don’t need to many gadgets and fancy equipment to do this successfully.. you only need patients and time...

Fish will get WS when they stress...and by catching fish with nets is stressful for them...the difference is that in a healthy tank they will be healthy and will be able to cope with it better and it can be treated in the tank very successfully ..But in a unhealthy tank they will not be able to handle it and they will die..

No..it's not...don’t make this complicated it's suppose to be simple...fun and relaxing...like I said..basics stay the same...every system is unique to its own ..let yours grow in its own little show pce...and you just maintain it...less is better...
Especially while you learn your systems ups and downs...this will take time...not weeks or months ...

Run your tank fallow for 6weeks. After that, put every fish through the transfer method before adding to main display.
Your tank will be free of ich.

actually more an agricultural term than a reef term.

But it can be used for other industries other then farming
(of an idea, state of mind, etc) undeveloped or inactive, but potentially useful
