Can anyone advise what these white silky strands could be? Looks almost like a spider web. Catching small air bubbles.

Have you been adding any bacteria to your tank, like Microbacter7, or any of the other brands. Those look like slime caused by bacteria.
Or, it could be ghost algae.:p

Yes, I have been adding Brightwell Bio Fuel. Is this bad & should I stop. I am trying to get rid of cyano. Also started vodka.

No not bad, however the bio fuel is like Vodka dosing, you don't need to do both.
You could do bio fuel as well as Microbacter7 (both from brightwell)
I do vodka and microbacter7. Nitrates are sitting at 10ppm.
How old is your tank? Remember, that cyano is part ofthe normal tank cycling and will dissapear with time. What are you tank paramters.
It is thought that any form of carbon dosing should only be done in mature tanks and that it is not a replacement for normal husbandry procedures.
    Good luck.

My nitrates are 10 as well, phosphates almost 0, Ca is 390, Kh is 9. I'll stop the vodka until Bio Fuel is finished. The tank is almost 5 months old. I have 2 x 54w T5 running 11 hours and 2 x 54w T5 running 5 hours. Should I reduce light?

Is that a total of 16 hours? In that case, yes.
I only run my lights, 6 T5's, for ten hours a day.
Increase your Ca to about 450-500, otherwise things look great.

thats a bit higher than needed. Between 400 and 420 is more than high enough. Calcium sitting on 500 is a snowstorm wating to happen.

In short...a snowstorm is when your parameters go a bit out of check and the calcium in your tank precipitates out of solution (as calcium carbonate) making your tank look like one of those cheap snow globes. Rapid pH or temp changes can cause the calcium top precipitate out.
