    Nice FTS.. :)
I prefer the first one, although it appears more orange / yellow? Than the second one...

    Second pic looks more white..

    Did you use different filters?

First one is as is, second one I used a softbox on a studio light as fill light.

I must add I pushed the shadows a bit in the first picture, where as I did not touch the exposure in the second image.

At a quick glance the 1st one looks better to me, but after studying the pics for a while the 2nd one appears to be sharper and you can see a lot more, such as the short spined urchin on the right and what appears to be a shrimp hanging upside down in the cave underneath the clown? But overall it looks a bit too sort of washed out or too bright. Probably something in-between the two would be perfect.

Did the same last night Dean, but first pic does show a bit more "movement" and color wrt fish being more visible, pity the shortspine urchin was not more visible

I guess it depends on what is the aim of the picture, Whether it is to show color / movement, or to show a clear img of contents.

And then it also depends what you are looking for in the specific pic... To drool over it as a big picture, or to look for small details.

You had me there for a moment...:)

The reef structure and corals in 2 with the fish is 1 (fish seem to be sharper, crisper)

Thanks for the comment. Both pictures are equally sharp - same tripod position, same focus setting, same shutter speed. The only difference is that in the bottom image I used a large fill light to pull up the shadows a bit. The top image contains all the contrast from the metal halides. In my opinion the bottom image is best for showing content, the top image is aesthetically best as background separation is better and it is more dramatic. Good to know you guys agree.
