Need some advice,im in the fish market for a nice sand sifter goby.

question is,iv been told that the bluecheek goby picks up sand and drops it all over the place, but the diamond back goby just sifts thru it and moves on without sprayin the sand over any corals.

my question is,does the six spot(valenciennae sexgutatta) sift sand nicely or spray it around like the bluecheek goby?

Or which is the ideal goby that will not make a huge mess?

If you are still following. We bought a six spot sleeper goby yesterday. It made a big mound excavating its burrow asap. This mound has now almost leveled out due to his/her movement. It sifts constantly taking big mouthfulls which trickle out the gills. It does not spray. The landscape is pockmarked from the mouthfulls but not messed up by spraying. Its a lovely fish. We have a 5ft tank with 2" of sand (not too coarse). I hope this provides enough food. We will try frozen shrimp but I believe they dont take easily to supplements.

I have the Pink spot Shrimp Gobie, but the Diamond Back was my first choice.

Mine also siphons on the spot, and does not swim around spitting sand all over the place.

@Meneer lol u funny hey.... I would jump over the moon had she shown a teeny bit of interest in my hobby lol..... But on a serious note, something to consider is that , yes u can have pretty fish filling up your tank, but certain fish, not all that pretty, serves the best functions ie: diamond back, cleanest sandsifter to date, salarius goby, ugly as hell but keeps algae at bay an even cleaner shrimp, nt the pretiest shrimp but serves a usefull purpose.... 'Jus something to think about;)'

I have a diamond back goby - not the prettiest fish, but full of character and doesn't spit the sand all over. He also takes nori and frozen food that gets to the bottom.

My six spot has turned over the sand and is eating flakes etc that fall to the bottom. Around and under every rock I now have ditches! Question: Do you guys fill in the holes created around rocks or let him excavate?
