Hi, welcome to MASA, as Lanzo said, say Hi in the new members area, then ask away, and read, read, read, there is a wealth of info on this site, along with some very experienced reefers, good luck.

Sure, we all have favorites. The importance of homework, is that you don't go and buy a nice lionfish and a flame angel, put them in the same tank, and tomorrow morning your R950 flame angel is gone... Thus, lionfish are best kept with fish the same size as they are, and shrimps etc are best not kepth with them. For this reason, most people keep them in a fish only tank, and not a reef tank.

Size of the tank is important yes, but if it's anything bigger than a 1.2 meter (4foot) then you would be fine keeping a small lionfish. The bigger the tank, the bigger your fish. But as soon as the fish becomes to big for the tank, just trade it in for a smaller one... ;)

    But a lionfish in a nano is a no-go!!

Nakoma - are you sure it's lion fish - we live in Ballito and have only seen white/brown lion fish here along the shore from Christmas Bay to Salmon Bay? I'm no expert at all but I thought you only get white/brown?
