Johan, let me know what you have in mind. I might be able to get them for you from a wholesaler (cheaper than the voltex group)

Johan, there are 1000's of different types of LEDs, you going to need to do a bit of homework on this. I personally have done it and found it to be way too expensive.

Main thing to check for: viewing angle, K rating (X,Y), W, Lumen-related to v. angle.

What reflective angle have those cree xr-e led's? Do you need to add reflectors and what reflective angles are available? What coverage/spread do they have?

You would not need reflectors but rather optics or lenses to spread the light, you have a choice between 45 and 60 degree lenses

Apparantly using 45 defree optics you can make a led fitting eqaul to a 250 watt mh and using 60 degree optics you can make a led fitting eqaul to a 150 watt mh.

im not using any optics as the tank im using it in is only 30 cm deep.

Thats because with a 45 degree the beam angle is narrower and the light is more concentrated, but for the reflectors u would nt need cos all the light comes from the front of the led, and the would need to be mounted on a heat sink
