ok so all that tells us is its a 150w DE (double ended) bulb

you will get many spectrums in that wattage, does it say anything on the actual bulb

Thanks .... Would builders have something similar or who sells them ? .. I currently have an algae problem so I got some Caulerpa from a fellow reefer but in 3 days the Caulerpa was practicly gone with my T5 .. So I had this metal halide lying around so I put it over the refugium, the Caulerpa was starting to survive but went on holiday for 10 days I got home to this ... Apparently the other algae loved it more than the Caulerpa ... The Caulerpa looks a little happier .... What spectrum is best for Caulerpa ?

For caulerpa u don't need to have high Kelvin bulbs and the ones u get from builders will work around 6500k but u can also go get a 10w flood light from a Chinese store for R100 and save itself some electricity

i think you have a massive nutrient leach happening there, i would actually suggest putting the lights off to assist getting it under controll

A 10W LED spotlight from the Chinese market shops will work just as well.

Alternative a CFL light from hardware store like Chamberlains, around 24W would be more than enough. Go for cool white then daylight. Warm white would be too yellow.
Check if the Phillips 45W CFL is still available. That is more than enough.

Mount the CFL sideways. Pointing down and the heat from the globe slowly cooks the base part over time, shortening the lifespan of the globe. Pointing up, and any condensation on the globe itself when switched off, will run into the base causing a short circuit. Sideways is the only option that do work out in the long run.
