Where can I get Marine Plants....

    Good Day All,

    Can anyone tell me where I can get any of the following marine plants?
    *Kelp on Rock, Smooth Leaf (Haliptilon sp.)
    *Maiden's Hair Plant (Chlorodesmis sp.)
    Saltwater Aquarium Algae for Marine Reef Aquariums: Maiden's Hair Plant
    *Shaving Brush Plant (Penicillus sp.)
    Saltwater Aquarium Plants for Marine Reef Aquariums: Shaving Brush Plant
    *Red Mangrove Propagule (Rhizophora mangle)
    Aquatic Plants for Saltwater Marine Aquariums: Red Mangrove Propagule

    *Mermaid's Fan Plant (Udotea sp.)
    Mermaid's Fan Plant

    Is there anyone on MASA keeping marine plants?

    U been browsing live aquaria? Those all come from there...they called macro algaes btw ;)

    Speak to robvdv he has quite a collection of macro algaes and last time I checked he was willing to ship for a fair price.

    maidens hair you can get on our coat,and another species of macro that i have kept successfully is codium sp. It is easy to remove,the only thing you must be carefull of,is that in water hotter than 25,they start to die. you will find codium sp. along the kzn coast,they require medium to strong flow,and always remove it attached to say,a piece of rock,this will ensure greater survival. My tangs also left it alone.

    It's illegal to have, transport, collect, trade etc in mangrove trees in South Africa.

    Not R. mangle, which is the American red mangrove. The local red mangrove, R. mucronata is protected.

    I have a small colony of Udotea, but I don't recommend it. It goes sexual from time to time and isn't much to look at. Here's what it looked like the last time it exploded in gametes:
