Its been a few weeks since the kalk stirrer emptied itself into the tank and took out half my SPS. The remaining sps is making a good recovery, still extremely pale/white but polyps started extending about 2 weeks ago.

Is it too early to start vodka and MB7 dosing?

The reason is since the mishap and stopping dosing, nuisance algae is setting in... GHA, diatoms, red cotton, cyano. I'm not sure if its from the near wipeout or stopping carbon dosing.

    Any input welcome, thanks.

Gaboon, I say you can resume Vodka and MB7 dosing to get things stable again.

I would say start again now to try and help establish your bacterial populations. Just start really slowly.

Cool, Ill start with half the normal start up dose of vodka and take it slow. I'm very surprised that the remaining bleached sps is making such and good recovery.

That is good news Gaboon. With the low nutrients, the corals will quickly recover and color up. :)

id say start dosing but be very vigilant with your testing too. i would argie that the system is out of ballance due to the kalk and you may have damaged the bacterial population which hasnt recovered yet. by dosing you should help that population to increase and they should consume the available excess nutrients, although you do run the risk that cyano gets a good foot hold and sends things south.

a worthwhile risk, but id watch those No3's in particular and make sure that they dont climb too fast, and be awear that cyano bac will most likley grow as fast if not faster than the bacteria you want to propogate.

start with small dosages and go slow...
