LOL - hhhmmm - somewhere the communication went WRONG! Badly, mate! ;)

USUALLY - one adds live rock LONG LONG before adding a "test fish".... ;)

How long have your tank been cycling for now? And what "test fish" have you added?

Please note - it is usually "frowned upon" to add "test fish" when the tank is not cycled yet.

The "die off" that you get from a lot of pieces of live rock, adds to the cycle process. So - to tell the truth - you have just most likely prolonged your cycling process, by not asking this question a LOT earlier - and by not adding the live rock a LOT earlier....

I will change the name of this thread if you don't mind - to the full question....

I wouldn't say this is urgent help. I don't condone putting fish in water to test if they can survive as it is kinda cruel.

    Lets start at the basics:

    1) How long has your tank been running?
    2) What are you testing for?
    3) What are your ammonia and nitrite readings?

Also - I am moving this thread to the "General" Forum. As I too don't think that this is really "the end of the world" type of question.

:y13: I thought this stopped decades ago.... really you should take the fish back if possible, cycle with live rock and slow way down.

Not all that serious, dont stress. Put the LR in and try and get hold of Seachem Stability or Microbacter7 to help boost the cycle.
Im sure Lanzo at Dorrypets will have these products.

How it was supposed to happen

1 - add RO water to tank and bring up to temp (24deg)
2 - add salt and cycle a day or so - check salinity 1025
    3 - add liverock
4 - add sand or visa versa
5 - let tank cycle for 4 weeks and test water inbetween
6 - only after ammonia and nitrites test 0, then you add fish slowly
7 - when nitrates are 0 - 5, then you can add invertebrates and corals

These days a tank can cycle a bit quicker using the zeo method and by adding bacteria stains.
